Who is an activist?

An activist

  •  is a person who campaigns for some kind of social change;
  • is a person who engages in activities for the benefit of society and its interests;
  • is a person who is a member of a non-profit organization, takes part in the public life of a city or country, organizes various events, takes part in them;

(An example of an ecological activist – he/she speaks about environmental problems, comes with solutions on protecting and preserving the environment, raises awareness on environmental sustainability)

We invite activists from various fields of activism to become part of the InspiredBY community!

I don’t have any experience with social projects – can I apply for InspiredBY?

Every activist has felt the same way at some point, and what’s important is that you have the drive and will to change your community. Just fill in the application and tell us what you want to do, what issues YOUR activism would tackle and how YOU contribute.

What if there are two of us representing the same project/initiative/organization on InspiredBY ?

This also reflects one of the core values of InspiredBY – tolerance and respect towards those with different opinions.
  • Workshop. In these seminars, the theoretical is mixed with practical elements to help with understanding different perspectives in an engaging way. This could mean crafting something with your hands, moving your body, speaking activities or thinking exercises.
  • Flash mob. Pre-planned mass action in which participants gather in one place and carry out the previously agreed or prepared actions of the organizers (scenario).
  • Performance. Format that involves actions of the group in a specific place and at a certain time, aimed at revealing an idea, thought or goal.

The language at InspiredBY

InspiredBY is an international event, and we want all our participants to feel welcome. English and Russian are the official languages of InspiredBY, since they are most widely understood by all participants. Belarusian is one of the more common languages in informal talks and discussions. During seminars and workshops, we support the use of any language all participants can agree on. Multilingual participants are encouraged to volunteer as translators to overcome language barriers between activists.

NOTE: InspiredBY regards language as a tool for communication and wishes to avoid discussions of language in political contexts.
